TRADITION

In 2008 I learned traditional Korean pottery techniques as an apprentice at Ohbuja Onggi in Ipo-ri, Gyeong-Gi Do, South Korea. A family run Onggi studio operated by Korean National Cultural Treasure Kim Il-Maan. During my apprenticeship I learned all steps of the tradition, from hand-processing raw clay to final delivery of wares. Since my return home, I have continued this tradition in my Helena, Montana studio with the blessing of my Korean teachers.
